This Homemade Apple butter is simple to make and delicious. Perfect to give as a gift or eat by yourself. Slather this on some English muffins or use it as a sauce, this is an excellent spread to make.
Apple is one of my favorite fruits to have as a snack. They are naturally sweet and crunchy.
But once you cooked them down, their flavor changes, as well as the texture and then you can create things like apple pie, apple tart, or apple butter.
This recipe is simple. Most of the time is spent waiting. You add the apples to a slow cooker for the flavor to become concentrated, you blend it and chill it. The next day, it will be spreadable and way better than any apple sauce.
If you have never tried it before, you are in for a treat.

Ingredients for Homemade Apple Butter
Apple butter doesn’t actually have any butter in it. It more describes the texture once you chill it. It’s like butter. It’s naturally gluten and dairy-free.
- Apples. You can use any type of apples you went. I went with red apples because they are naturally sweeter, but you can use green apples or a mixture of both. Just remember to adjust the sweetness according to what apples you use.
- Sugar. Granulated sugar and brown sugar sweetens the mixture and enhances the apple flavor.
- Spices. Cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves add flavor to the apples and give a more complex flavor to your finished product.
- Salt. A little bit of salt in any desserts help enhance the other flavors.
- Vanilla Extract. Add this at the end to add a nice vanilla flavor.
