These flour tortillas are really quick and easy to make. They will be the perfect vessel for all your favorite fillings and toppings. No ripped tortillas here! Once you make these, you will never buy store-bought tortillas again.

Ingredients
As promised, these flour tortillas are only FIVE ingredients. And you probably have all these ingredients in your pantry anyway.
- Flour. I use all-purpose flour to make these flour tortillas.
- Baking Powder. This makes much fluffier tortillas.
- Salt.
- Oil. You can add any fat. Some use butter (or vegan butter works really good, too) or even vegetable shortening.
- Water. Just enough to bring the dough together. If it’s too sticky, just add more flour.
Procedure
This is a one-bowl recipe. You add all the ingredients to the bowl and hand need it until it combines. There should be no flour left in the bowl.
If you are using vegan butter, then you will have to break it up gently with a fork or your fingers, before adding all the other ingredients.
After kneading, transfer to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until the surface is smooth. That is when you can cut it and shape it into balls. Cut into 16 pieces for smaller pieces (about 1 oz) or 8 pieces (2 oz) for larger tortillas.
After that, you let rest for at least 30 minutes. I like to transfer to a lightly floured tray and cover with a kitchen towel.
Prepare a large pan and pour a little oil in it. Heat it to medium heat.
Take each piece and roll with a rolling pin as thin as you can make it. Try to keep it as close to a circle as possible. This dough should roll out easily. If you see it sticking, then add a little flour to stop that.
Add to pan and cook for 30-45 seconds or until it starts to puff up. Flip with a spatula and cook for another 30-45 seconds. Repeat this process with the other pieces.
I recommend covering the cooked tortillas with a kitchen towel to keep them warm as you cook all your tortillas.
This recipe is best to be eaten fresh. But if you have leftover tortillas, you can put in the fridge in a Ziploc bag. The texture will be chewier than the fresh ones, but still good.
