This Homemade Pizza Dough recipe is quick and easy to make, only a couple ingredients, and makes the best crust ever.
Is there anything more comforting than a good slice of pizza? I mean the crusty dough, bubbling hot cheese, and the crispy toppings.
It’s basically the perfect food.
Now making your own pizza dough is not only surprisingly easy, it’s better because you can control the shape, size, and flavors you want to impart. It is only 6 ingredients and one of them is water. So it’s a really quick dough and can be stored in the fridge or freezer. Great to make ahead or use as you want.
Plus it cooks beautifully! It’s soft and fluffy on the inside, but crusty on the outside. The perfect combination.

Ingredients for homemade pizza dough
- Flour. I use a mixture of bread flour and all-purpose flour. Bread flour has a higher gluten content and creates a better chew. But you can use all all-purpose flour if that’s all you have.
- Sugar. A little sugar with feed the yeast and creates the soft interior. It won’t make the pizza dough sweet.
- Instant Yeast. Instant yeast can be added straight to the flour and is not affected by salt. You don’t have to activate it like you do with active yeast (hence the name), so it is a little easier to work with.
- Olive oil. Because pizza is Italian. And it helps the bread crisp in the oven.
Topping Ideas
I top my pizza dough with vegan pepperoni and fresh basil. But you can play around with different toppings as you like. Here is some ideas for your homemade pizza dough.
Sauces…
- Barbeque Sauce (think bbq chicken)
- Tomato Sauce
- Alfredo Sauce (with caramelized onions and sauteed mushrooms)
- Bechamel
- Buffalo (with chopped crispy chicken tenders)

- Mozzarella Cheese (the classic)
- Parmesan Cheese
- Pesto
- Goat Cheese
Toppings
- Pineapple (Controversial, but delicious)
- Black Olives
- Onions
- Bacon (or fakin bacon)

I love the pizza and the Babka.
Pizza with kombucha hard brew. I loved the crust tender and tasty. The vegan pepperoni is authentic. Tasty and filling.
The babka I couldn’t have enough. Great with freshly ground expreso coffee with raw honey agave cocoa and soy milk. The dough is soft and chocolate combination is my favorite. Delightful!
