This baked garlic bread is delicious and buttery with fresh garlic flavor. It is easy to make, few ingredients, and quick to make. Good thing too because it will smell so good you will tempted to eat it all by yourself!
I love garlic.
I am the type of person that if a recipe asks for 4 cloves, I will double it AND add garlic powder.
So naturally, I love garlic bread. I can eat a whole plate with it all by myself. It’s crispy on the outside and soft in the middle with a perfect balance of butter, garlic, and basil. Oooh, my mouth is watering just writing this!
Just make it. It’s great. I’m ordering you to make it. Recipe is below!

Ingredients
- French Baguette. This bread is the perfect size and gets really soft on the inside once heated. You can use another bread loaf that very long with a nice crust.
- Garlic cloves and garlic powder. This is to up the garlicky flavor and it becomes quite delicious once it is baked.
- Basil. For some color and for the flavor.
- Butter. I use earth balance whipped butter, but you can use any butter you like, vegan or not. If you want to use oil instead, I would recommend olive oil. It won’t be exactly the same, but still really delicious.
This is a paired down recipe, but feel free to double it or triple it as needed.
Procedure
Slice the bread into 1-inch slices. You can make it thicker or thinner depending on how crispy you want the end product to be.
In a bowl, add the softened butter, minced garlic, chopped basil, garlic powder, and salt. This is a basic spread for the bread, so feel free to add other flavors you like. I sometimes add crushed red pepper for a slight kick or black pepper.
Combine everything with a fork until it’s a spreadable consistency.
Lay a sheet of aluminum foil on top of a baking tray. You want enough to cover all the bread slices. This is to stop the garlic from burning in the oven and making the bread too crispy.
Slather both sides generously with the butter mixture and place on the aluminum foil and fold over the top. Put in the preheated oven. After ten minutes, you can take off the foil on top and flip each bread slice. The bottom should be toasted.
Leave it open and put it in the oven to toast for 5 more minutes. Then they should be ready. Please note that ovens vary in temperature and you might need to bake longer or less. Just no burnt garlic is allowed.
Enjoy still warm with some pasta or alone as an appetizer or a snack. Whatever you want.
